Good place but always a bit more expensive than the Sainsbury that's not too far from here

Good jet wash and automatic car wash. Pity that air and water are charged at 50p. The usual selection of garage goodies available inside at the usual inflated prices.

Dental Surgeries

Antwerp House Dentistry Cambridge

36 Brookfields, Cambridge CB1 3NW, UK – 01223 247690

I recently saw Dr Louisa Lawrence for a consultation and subsequently saw Raj to have a tooth extracted. Louisa was so delightful. It was a great pleasure to meet her and her staff. Raj has been looking after my dentistry needs for about 15 years including a complete restructuring of my bite and inserting implants where required. For all you phobic patients reading this, I am probably his most nervous patient, but always feel I am being treated by one of the best dental surgeons in this country. I recommend him very highly.

Dr. Louisa Lawrence welcomed me into her practice with great charm. She proceeded to enlighten me as to the procedure that would follow whilst being examined. She outlined everything she was going to do, and asked if I would be comfortable with all that. This put me entirely at ease as she suggested that if there was anything that I was not happy with to let her know. I have never been so thoroughly and comprehensively assessed. ( I am 64 ) Whilst relaying the description of every single tooth verbally ( to her obviously very able nurse,) she was using words that I had never heard of before to describe each individual tooth! Further she then proceeded to assess my mouth and gums from every angle --- top to bottom and side to side, above and below my tongue ! She also checked my lymph nodes in my neck . A comprehensive photographic record was then used to capture each and every tooth from the inside of my mouth. Then several photos of my teeth from the outside also. This was all done with two state of the art cameras to build up a fantastic photographic record for future reference. Then she cleaned my teeth most professionally with attention to detail, helped again by the able and attentive nurse. She finished by showing me the images she captured and described all of my teeth and gums The overall experience was one of complete care and I left feeling very comfortable with the entire experience. Thank You Louisa... God Bless.

Cambridge Dental Access Centre

94 Seymour St, Cambridge CB1 3DQ, UK – 01223 723093

Never had such a great experience to a dentist before. I thought that being an emergency NHS dentist it would be awful, but in fact it was the best service I've ever had. The Receptionsit was lovely at the start, peaceful waiting room, amazing dentist and nurse who relaxed me and made the whole experience better (obviously the dentist is never a great experience but it was the best it could be.) Free parking too! I wish I could register here permanently.

All around brilliant , thank you for caring & looking after me ,

Cherry Hinton Dental Centre

39B High St, Cambridge CB1 9HX, UK – 01223 414844

Having always been wary of dentists, probably as a result of bad experiences as a child, I'm so glad to have found this place. The staff are friendly, relaxed and reassuring, and inspire confidence with their calm and professional manner. The work is of a high standard, everything is explained carefully and options outlined. There is no pressure regarding treatment, I have always felt listened to, have been given plenty of information and allowed to make informed choices. Highly recommended, I wish I had come here years ago!

Very friendly people working there. I am a bit afraid of dental procedures but they have helped me get over it by talking me through the process. Would recommend this dental centre to everyone..

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity

Cherry Hinton Road, Great Shelford, Great Shelford, Cambridge CB22 3FB, UK – 01223 675777

I eat at the Bistro very regularly since discovering it a few weeks ago, and have introduced family and friends. Incredibly good value for money and excellent food. Needs better publicity though - I went to a concert last week which was in aid of the hospice and a spokesman talked on stage about the facility, with no mention of the Bistro - a lost opportunity. Also went for lunch last Sunday and main entrance was closed and lobby in darkness - we nearly gave up, thinking the Bistro was closed, until some other people turned up telling us they had phoned and checked it was open. We were directed to a side entrance and had to call to be let in. A notice on the main door confirming the Bistro was open would have been helpful. There were very few diners - I guess others may have been put off.

We only use the bistro which we feel is excellent value for money for the hot food it provides through the week and at weekends, the Sunday roast is excellent! We feel that if people were to be made aware of its presence than it could be quite profitable, or at least break even, which could help to lower the cost of running the charity. We know you are a little of the beaten track but feel it would be a shame to lose the facilities as there are very few places that provide such tasty food at such a reasonable price. We hope this is a valid point.

Cambridge Water Co

90 Fulbourn Rd, Cambridge CB1 9JN, UK – 01223 706050

Called to get copies of past bills. Required multiple calls; initially only sent half of those requested. First person I spoke with was very helpful. Second guy, not so much. He insisted it can't be done, even though I explained that the company had already sent half of those I needed and so it can be done. Second batch of requested bills arrived but can't open the file. Not done yet.

Personally I have never had a problem with Cambridge Water. When I ring them they answer fairly quick, act professionally, and then when I tell them I will be paying my bill in a few weeks they are fine with this. I always ring in the morning so perhaps they have split shifts, and the afternoon staff are not as good.

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Fulbourn

Sitar Tandoori Restaurant

43 High St, Cambridge CB1 9HX, UK – 01223 249955

I've visited here a number of times over the years. The waiters are always very welcoming and polite. I like some of the extra touches like Bombay mix when you first arrive and a tray of sweet and spicy Indian sweets after your meal. I always have a chicken curry of one sort or another and always find the meat to be good quality. I love a Madras, but do find their sauce to be little bland for me. The quality of their side dishes and portion sizes are all reasonable, as is the final bill.

A very decent place for a curry! Good service and great food.

Eating Inn Robin Hood

1 Fulbourn Rd, Cambridge CB1 9JL, UK – 01223 505026

We had a very acceptable Sunday lunch with a bottle of Marlborough region sauvignion blanc which was very nice. Enjoyed the meal, well but not overcooked veg and tasty tender pork meat. Recommend as good family friendly pub and food. Typical chain pub price and quality, service excellent.

Nice pub, plenty of parking, staff friendly and chatty. Food took a little time to come but it seemed that time and care had been taken in its preparation. Would definitely visit again.

The White Hart Country Inn

1 Balsham Rd, Fulbourn, Cambridge CB21 5BZ, UK – 01223 880264

Had a meal with my Nan and my uncle on Wednesday. Felt the food was excellent and very quick service the girl who served us had excellent customer service. We were very happy and would return to the White Hart.

Only had a lunchtime meal here with my family but the service was excellent, food was very good. Of all the pubs in Fulbourn, this one does the best food

Ridgefield Primary School

3 of our children have gone (2 still at) Ridgefield. It is an excellent school. What makes Ridgefield special is the community of teachers and parents. People care and this really shows in the level of attention they provide to the children both academically and personally. As a parent it's quite strange in a way, to leave the people you love the most with others everyday and entrust those others to nurture your children. I can only say that I am grateful that this is what the teaching team of Ridgefield have done for our children. They have had highs and lows (as all children do) but its how they have been dealt with which has impressed me the most.

I love this place because it is a fun place

Cherry Hinton Hall Lodge, Cherry Hinton Rd, Cambridge CB1 8DW, UK – 01223 416938

My son has been at school for over 6 years. When he started he was very quiet and has now turned in a thriving young man. The teachers are first rate and have always got time for you. Facilities are improving every year.

Our children have had a very positive experience at CIS. The teaching staff are first rate. The temporary premises for the coming term look excellent whilst Cherry Hinton Hall is being renovated.

Cambridge Steiner School

Hinton Rd, Fulbourn CB21 5DZ, UK – 01223 882727

We returned to the Cambridge Steiner School from the USA where my four boys had been studying at a Steiner (Waldorf) school for 10 years and loved every day of it. My eldest finished at 18 and is now at UC Berkeley in California, and my second is at Hills Road 6th Form, Cambridge, and wants to study engineering at university . Now it is just my youngest (10 years old) who is at the Cambridge Steiner School , and the year has flown by with a wonderful set of teachers, inspired curriculum (which, as a teacher as well as a parent I have looked into), school field trips, and of course the music, singing, crafts, and two foreign languages Steiner pupils all engage in. All my boys have turned out interested in all the subjects - both sciences and arts, and have grown into happy, mature, well-informed, and caring individuals . The Cambridge Steiner school is still growing so classes are small, parents know each other well and participate in the community life of the school. The Steiner School is situated within cycling distance of Cambridge, and there is a school bus that picks children up at various different sites around the city. Close to the school is the village of Fulbourn and the Fulbourn Nature Reserve. One afternoon every week, the children walk with their teacher to the woods to explore, to play games and to have an outdoor lesson.

Landmark International School

9 Church Ln, Fulbourn, Cambridge CB21 5EP, UK – 01223 755100

Fantastic School ! Set in the lovely village of Fulbourn , the staff are great as is everything about the school. It is a new School but is already gaining a reputation for being one of the best in the region.

What a wonderful warm welcome we received from all staff when we recently visited this new international school. The teaching staff are well experienced and extremely motivated to provide all round care, compassion and educational excellence. Nothing is too much trouble...if your child needs mother-tongue language lessons, this can be arranged. The students were delightful, polite and confident. A super school with a different homely atmosphere, highly recommended.
